AI Tools for Blog Writing & SEO (and for Those Who Don’t Enjoy Writing)

A blog is a great marketing tool for a business and health practice. It’s a way to share your expertise with your audience and offer a low commitment “way-in” for potential clients. A blog is also a great strategy for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) which combines creative and technical methods for a business to appear on relevant Google searches and get linked to potential customers.

While having a blog is incredibly useful, consistently writing articles and sharing them on social media can get tiring and tedious. Especially after a long day of work and appointments, coming up with a creative article is the last thing most entrepreneurs want to do. In this day and age, AI tools are available to create and edit content. The question is; should those in an information-sensitive profession, such as therapy, use AI to write blogs? If so, when should we incorporate our own flavor and expertise, and when should we let AI simply do its thing?

Let’s start with why businesses of all sizes and industries need SEO. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is crucial for businesses to improve their online visibility and attract relevant traffic to their websites.1 Websites are still being used today, especially on mobile devices. They legitimize a business, communicate information that social media cannot, and provide ways to earn revenue and gain leads. SEO is a slow and steady process, which means there’s no pressure to get a bunch of things done in the beginning or at any particular moment. When methods such as blog articles, location information, backlinks and social indexing are in place, it takes 3-6 months to see full results. The good thing is, those results will build and last, compared to results from advertising which typically stops when a campaign ends.

The answer to our first question is “yes”. Entrepreneurs and health providers, for example, should use AI to write blogs, especially when experiencing writer’s block. Before you write your first article, make a list of topics that your blog will cover. Ensure these topics are relevant to your ideal clients, which are people who either bring in the most revenue or people who you enjoy helping the most. Keep in mind that clients who pay you the most are not always the best clients to have, especially if they cause you anxiety and exhaustion.

AI can also help you tee up several articles at once, which will help to speed up SEO results. A tip is to copy AI-generated content for 3-5 topics and save them for later. When you have time to add in your expertise, do it in bulk then post the articles on your blog. That way, you aren’t spending too much time throughout the week writing articles.

What about editing? Hemingway Editor is a great, free tool to help with editing articles. When you paste your article on the Hemingway website, phrases or sentences that need revision will be highlighted in various colors. A key to each color is on the right side of the page. To save time, add in original quotes and expertise to an AI-generated article, then paste it directly into Hemingway. After edits have been made, proofread the article for any final changes, then publish your article.

For Entrepreneurs Who Don’t Enjoy Writing

Not every therapist, coach or business owner enjoys writing. Relevant content is one of the most important aspects of marketing, and thankfully, AI can help you create content. If you have the financial means to hire an SEO company or writer, then definitely give the responsibility of writing articles to them. For those on a small budget, AI can do much of the work for you, so all you need to do is incorporate your advice to readers. Both ChatGPT and the Hemingway Editor will help turn your thoughts into eye-catching and engaging articles.

AI is here, so why not use it to help further your career? Even health providers and expert writers can use AI, especially when writer’s block comes to steal your creativity. While SEO has a reputation for being an expensive service, there are projects that you (or an assistant) can tackle on your own. Blog writing and social media are just the beginning.
